After you have set the instance's boot source, you can select a network to attach it to. The nics parameter can accept a list of networks that you want to attach the instance to, or it can be specified as a net-id/net-name/port-id or port-name string.
Optionally, you can specify an IP address that is floating. If you use a router, this is a good way to connect the instance with a project's network as well as the external network.
To assign the instance to a project network, you must first connect the project network to a router that has the external network configured as its gateway. The external networks must contain a subnet capable of providing the floating IP addresses.
You must then assign the instance to a specific security group. A securitygroup allows SSH access or other protocols you permit to your instance.
Once an instance has been assigned to the security group, it can be accessed from outside the cloud. This is done by configuring the network with which the instance will be connected and using SSH. This is more convenient than using the Horizon web console, but it does not give you complete control over the instance's access.
If you do not want to assign the instance to a security group, you can use the --os-delete-security-group option. This option returns the instance to the allocation pool after removing it from the security group.
